The Board

Justine King - Education Worker, Show Racism the Red Card & Equalities Trainer

Originally from the Midlands I moved to the North East as a youngster and have been here for over 30 years. I have had several forays away from the North East. I went to University in Bournemouth and to studied my degree in Media and Communication, I worked in the United States for a year, and then worked in London in the Adult Education department of City University. The North East is where my heart belongs and so I came back up for good in the mid 90s and have remained here since. This marked my first working experience in the Voluntary and Community Sector where I have also remained since.

Sanjee Ratnatunga - Chair - Self Employed Business Woman

Sanjee Ratnatunga is Director at Ideas for Change Consulting which delivers comprehensive project management services to those working in the field of enterprise, skills and business support. She is a qualified economist and economic development practitioner who has been working in the North East of England for the last twenty years. Having worked extensively with a range of public and private sector partners she has developed a strong understanding of the key economic challenges and opportunities facing the region.
Ross Waldie - Entreprener

Ross previously worked for the Cyrenians (Changing Lives) as Employment Service Programme Manager and previously worked as a Project Manager for the Chamber of Commerce, and has excellent business links across the Region. He has a degree in Sociology and has recently completing a Masters in Business Administration.

Councillor Ann Schofield

Claire Aitken, HR Director Muckle

Claire joined the Board in September 2016 to support Muckle LLP’s commitment to developing links and supporting community initiatives within the West End of Newcastle. Claire has over 30 years’ experience of working in HR (she was 2 when she started!) working at John Lewis for 26 years and Muckle LLP for nearly 5 years. She is a Chartered Fellow member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).

While Claire has volunteered on other committees, she hasn’t any previous experience of the charity sector and is keen to develop her knowledge and support of the 3rd sector, as well as developing her experience of being a Board member. She loves Lindt chocolate, olives, prosecco and red wine and hates mushrooms and most fish dishes!  She also hates her photo!!

Graeme Hudson, Head of Reward, Virgin Money

Graeme moved back to the North East in late 2011 to work for Richard Branson's Virgin Money Bank as Head of Reward (advising the Board of Directors on senior remuneration issues), having previously worked for the accountancy firm Deloitte in London.

His day job means that he has to be well versed in Corporate Governance, Legal, Risk, HR and Finance, while combining this with a wider commercial acumen. In recent years, he has taken on voluntary posts on local Boards to use his business acumen in a non-executive director capacity and to give something back to the North East community.  He has a cracking sense of humour! (or so JET's CEO thinks) and loves the outdoor life.
