Dilruba Yasmin (ESOL Assistant - Volunteer)
My name is Dilruba Yasmin, and I am from Bangladesh, a South-Asian country. I have a bachelor’s degree in English literature and language, and a master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
I truly like helping people, and believe that volunteering is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities. Bearing this belief in mind as well as having considered my academic qualifications, I always wanted to work as a volunteer ESOL tutor in my spare time, and very fortunately could join JET as a teaching assistant. I must add, furthermore, that working for JET as a tutor has been an ideal way to get involved with and help the community. Here at JET, I have had an opportunity to meet new people, explore their interests, and discover new possibilities. Most notably, with the opportunity at JET, I believe that I will not only be able to make a difference in other people’s lives but also be able to make positive changes to my own mental and physical health by being taken out of my daily life, feeling happy, and feeling accomplished.
Alongside working as a volunteer ESOL teaching assistant at JET, I also work part-time for the NHS for people having mental health difficulties.
